Magdalena Hasiuk works in the Institute of Art in the Polish Academy of Sciences. She graduated from the University of Łódź, where she obtained doctor’s degree in liberal arts in 2008. Her professional interests focus on theory and practice of the 20th century theatre, particularly on the issues related to theatre laboratories and social influence of theatre art. She is currently working on the first monograph on the Polish prison theatre. She translated Jacques Lecoq’s book The Moving Body (2001) into Polish. She is the author of over a hundred texts, including academic papers, critical sketches as well as reviews published in collective volumes and magazines in Poland and abroad. In 2001 she received the Jerzy Katarasiński Golden Pen prize for her critical work.
