Frank Raddatz is a writer and a dramaturg. He collaborates with numerous theatres. His Ph.D. thesis was dedicated to the works of Heiner Müller. He worked as a dramaturg in Cologne, Hanover, Stuttgart and Düsseldorf with such directors as Heiner Müller, Dimiter Gotscheff, Einar Schleef, Theodoros Terzopoulos, Valery Fokin, and Tadashi Suzuki. He was an artistic director of the project Mania Thebaia dedicated to the theatre of antiquity (space design by Ianis Kounellis). He lectured at the University of Hanover, The Johannes Gutenberg University of Mainz, Ruhr University Bochum, and University of Cologne. Currently he lectures in The Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts. He is a member of the International Theatre Institute (ITI). He worked as an editor of the theatre magazine Theater der Zeit between 2007 and 2014. Since May 2014 he has been the member of the editorial office of Lettre International. Since many years he has been a columnist. He is the author of the monograph Botschafter der Sphinx. Über das Verhältnis von Ästhetik und Politik am Theater an der Ruhr (Ambassadors of the Sphinx: on the relationship between aesthetics and politics at the Theater an der Ruhr) and Brecht frisst Brecht (Brecht eats Brecht). Together with Kathrin Tiedemann he edited the volume Reality strikes back. Tage vor dem Bildersturm (Reality Strikes Back. Days before the iconoclasm). He lives in Berlin.
