Born in 1978, Compagnie de l’Oiseau-Mouche is both a work integration project and a professional theatre company. Its ensemble is composed of 23 permanent actors with learning disabilities. The company has no permanent stage director and each creation is the outcome of an artistic encounter between an invited artist and the actors from the ensemble. In 2001, Compagnie de l’Oiseau-Mouche moved into its own venue, Théâtre de l’Oiseau-Mouche, in Roubaix. The company has created 45 shows and performed over 1600 times. It is accredited and supported by the French Ministry of Culture.
